I’ve recently just finished a collection of promos and Idents for Teachers TV, to help inform their viewers of the migration from telly to strictly internet. The challenge was to present this move as a positive thing, and not dwell on the negative. We soon came to the conclusion to have avatars within Teachers TV graphic land, informing the viewers.

I am quite happy with the overall key, grade and animation etc… although there’s always room for improvement.

on the server that hosts GO, I lost the entire site for roughly a month. I have only managed to get it back up and running, and still fixing broken links and uploading content. Luckily for me, the site is relatively new, so I hadn’t lost too much.

Time Based Arts hired me to develop Laser beam animations for integration into Nikes latest viral commercial, directed by Anthony Dickenson featuring Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres.

We immediately set out developing a system based on Anthony’s vision for how a geometrically and visually pleasing laser target system would work. Once this rig and system was in place many 3D passes where rendered, with which TBA made look beautiful and added the polish they’re so renowned for.

Including the lasers, Time Based Arts also asked me to develop the control screen animations for Torres’ shots, which they oversaw and meticulously integrated into the shots.

here’s the new graphic onions website, created in WordPress blogging thingy. Which was surprising easy to set-up (2 days compared to the 2 months the last one took!)

Edit due to the server crash Jun 2010, I have lost the old site. So it really is a case of ‘Out with the old and in with the new!’

3D design / build / animation / grade for the wrapper for a music show pilot.

Bloomberg hired me on a freelance gig to help with the 3D elements, components and passes for a new title sequence to mark a massive brand relaunch. Elements included nodes communicating with each other, as well as the main body of the network sphere and the connections holding it together. Many plates were produced to give Time Based Arts the flexibility to craft a fresh and beautiful final piece as only they can.

I helped Anthony with the pre-post post ?? on this ambitious music video. As well as animating, keying and compositing there was a very finddley stage of matching and lining up projections with the set.

The result is a unique music video in which graphic, colourful country and city landscapes move and change in time with the music, whilst the band members transform into fantastical animals.

Showcasing work from 09 and favourites before, including solo commissions and collaborations with directors & other motion graphics artists. I’d like to think it highlights a broad spectrum of creative direction, techniques and styles… a real mixed bag of mo-graph goodness… without sounding too contrived.

Works include Music video’s for Benga feat Coki ‘Night‘ (director / animator ) and The Bug ‘Poison Dart‘ feat Warrior Queen (co-directed with Tom Oswald). There’s idents and promos for various Teachers TV projects and The History Channel ‘Falklands Week‘ ident and branding. A cinema and video billboard commercial for Speedo’s Michael Phelps and typography and animation for various ITV promos,  sections from a title sequence for Don Letts‘ film ‘Punk Attitude‘, an ident for Shots magazine, DVD menu design and animation for QI TV programme and much more…

Its almost the end of the year and I’ll be cutting all my new work into a bigger better and perhaps slightly shorter reel early 2010… watch this space.

Conclusion : the 2 work well together although there’s a slip here and there, the masking tape scale is slightly wrong and stop frame footage is difficult to track, but overall a satisfactory result.

As spare time is a rare and precious commodity, this could take some time.
